چکیده

Trapped inflation is a mechanism in which particle production from the moving inflaton is the main source of friction in the inflaton equation of motion. The produced fields source inflaton perturbations, which dominate over the vacuum ones. We review the computation of the perturbations performed in the original work and in a successive analysis that makes use of the effective field theory (EFT) of inflation. We verify the validity of several results obtained in these works, but we show that the final expression for the power spectrum is affected by one invalid approximation. This approximation also affects the computation of the bispectrum. We show that, once this approximation is replaced by an exact computation, the different schemes used in the literature to compute the perturbations at second order lead to different results for the bispectrum. ar X iv :1 60 3. 08 02 1v 3 [ as tr oph .C O ] 7 D ec 2 01 6

Trapped Quintessential Inflation in the context of Flux Compactifications

We present a model for quintessential inflation using a string modulus for the inflaton quintessence field. The scalar potential of our model is based on generic non-perturbative potentials arising in flux compactifications. We assume an enhanced symmetry point (ESP), which fixes the initial conditions for slow-roll inflation. When crossing the ESP the modulus becomes temporarily trapped, which...

Hybrid inflation with moduli stabilization and low scale supersymmetry breaking

We study the supergravity hybrid inflation model of Ref. [1] in the presence of a modulus field. The η-problem is solved by a shift symmetry for the inflaton, which protects the inflaton mass even in the presence of the modulus field. Inflation is (nearly) unaffected by moduli stabilization, provided the scale of supersymmetry breaking in the post-inflation vacuum is small. Therefore the model ...

Inflationary Cosmology: Theory and Phenomenology

This article gives a brief overview of some of the theory behind the inflationary cosmology, and discusses prospects for constraining inflation using observations. Particular care is given to the question of falsifiability of inflation or of subsets of inflationary models.‡

Random Matrices and the Spectrum of N-flation

N-flation is a promising embedding of inflation in string theory in which many string axions combine to drive inflation [1]. We characterize the dynamics of a general N-flation model with non-degenerate axion masses. Although the precise mass of a single axion depends on compactification details in a complicated way, the distribution of masses can be computed with very limited knowledge of micr...

Shift Symmetry and Inflation in Supergravity

We consider models of inflation in supergravity with a shift symmetry. We focus on models with one moduli and one inflaton field. The presence of this symmetry guarantees the existence of a flat direction for the inflaton field. Mildly breaking the shift symmetry using a superpotential which depends not only on the moduli but also on the inflaton field allows one to lift the inflaton flat direc...
